RODIN EN BARCELONA

January 20th, 2010 No Comments

Yesterday night the Football club Barcelona won its third Champions League against Manchester United of Mr. Cristiano Ronaldo and Sir Alex Ferguson. The red-blue team played its best style, like no other can do right now in the world, and finish an incredible year with the three most important titles: Liga (Spanish Championship), King’s Cup (of Spain) and the Champions League.
Congratulations to the team, players and all supporters from all over the world!

From several years ago, during the spring season Barcelona has the privilege of being in the top list of cities of the world that receive and organize some of the world’s major sports events.
Some examples are:
Trofeo Conde de Godó” Tennis Tournament (once again the 2009 winner is our local ATP number 1 Rafa Nadal), Formula1 “Gran Premio de España” (8, 9 and 10th of May), Champions League with our soccer team, F.C.Barcelona playing the Final against the Manchester United next May 27th in Rome and MOTOGP “Gran Premio de Catalunya” on June 14th.

This important sports offer can be, most of the times, the trip complement for many of the visitors that come to Barcelona now or even, in some other cases, is just the reason why they come to our city. If you need any kind of information or advising regarding these events, do not hesitate in asking us:

Sant Jordi (St. George) is the National Heroe of Catalonia. The legend explains he fighted against the dragon and rescued the beautiful princess.
This date is very popular in Catalonia - and all the Catalans we are very proud of it- because represents the esence and rooths of the Catalan nation and its culture. In the past decades, the marketing has amplified the international impact of this special tradition: men give a rose as a present to women and women give a book, as well as a present, to men. An special reccommendation if you are in Barcelona this date: go for a walk to the Ramblas street in the evening and enjoy with the flowers and books shops in the middle of the street. For sure you will be impressed and even you will feel as a local!

Last week was presented in the Agbar Tower the new touristic bus service, managed by a private company. This new offer will cover with 20 buses an area that was not showed til now: the new Barcelona which means the districts between the new Diagonal Street and the Forum, all in the north seaside of the city. The Barcelona Council offers with this initiative a complete touritic offer with this kind of two decks buses. Prices are around 21 € although may change depending on the season and the start point is located in Plaza de Catalunya.

The Barcelona harbour has reached a new record of cruises passengers in 2008 when 2.014.141 people came to Barcelona to take a Mediterranean cruise.
This increase in the traffic of passengers, confirm Barcelona as the leading European harbour and fifth in the world, behind the four Caribean harbours of Miami, Port Canaveral, Everglades and Cozumel.

On 2007 this harbour reached a total of 1.698.028 passengers, so the evolution in 2008 has been clearly positive with a 18.62 % of net increase. Besides this, the number of cruises that have come to Barcelona has also grown in a 9,1%, which means a total of 863 ships. One of the reasons of this great success apart of the importance of Barceloa in the Mediterranean sea and its great touristic and historic offer, is the change in the seasonality of this industry that has extended itself to autumn and winter. This is the case of companies like MSC, Costa, Norwegian Cruise and Royal Caribbean with whom LiveBarcelona works through indirect alliances.

Enjoy and discover the Vicky Cristina Barcelona movie placements

As you may know, the latest Woody Allen film has been awarded and recognized worldwide and has become the definitive opportunity for Penelope Cruz, who has won an Oscar for her character in this movie. The movie has been produced in Barcelona and also in Oviedo (Asturias, north of Spain).
In LiveBarcelona we know that events like this generate a lot of interest and some clients and friends suggested us to design a special tour in which we can show the main locations that appear in this famous movie. We have done it in the past with bestsellers like “La sombra del viento” or “El juego del angel” of Carlos Ruiz Zafón www.carlosruizzafon.com both taking place in Barcelona and we have adapted the same idea for the Vicky Cristina Barcelona movie www.vickycristinabarcelonalapelicula.es In this special tour, we will be able to visit the most important places like the Arts Hotel, the Barcelona Harbour and specially the “Moll de la Marina” where there is an scene just in front of the “Peix d’Or” (the golden fish statue of Mr. Frank Gehry), the “Paseo Marítimo”, the “Barceloneta restaurant”, the “Paseo Colón” (with the statue of Columbus), the “Vía Layetana”, the “Pedrera Gaudi’s building”, the “Ramblas” (just between the Hospital and Carmen streets) and the modernist restaurant “Els quatre Gats” www.4gats.com as some of the interesting places you could visit in this special tour. We hope you will find it interesting!!

We have the best guides for your groups. We will organize the itinerary best suit their interest. We customize the program with the teachers and tour leaders.

Your students will always remember the lessons they learned in Barcelona !!

We wait for you at Barcelona.

Last Saturday we were working with a VIP group from Discovery Communications from USA and we were visiting the most important Gaudí’s work: the “Sagrada Familia”, still under construction. We attend at the auditorium of the museum to a very interesting speach about the construction of the building and we also went into the plaster worshop area, that is not open to the public.

It was a very nice experience for the group and for us as well!

The Sagrada Familia Church was started on 1882 and it is still under construction. Once it will be finished will have 3 façades and 18 towers. By the moment there are only 2 façades and 8 towers. We need about 20 more years to finish it!

If you are interested on it, let us know it and we will prepare a special tour for you!
